Two conversations

When speaking with someone, it’s important to remember that there are always at least two conversations going on at the same time.

First, there is the topic under discussion…

Second, there are the underlying motives, hopes, fears, and agendas from which the person is speaking.

Bottom line, conversations are never neutral or limited to the topic under discussion.

This is not a call to be cynical; it is a call to be wise.

The ONE THING for today: People bring more to the table than what is visible.  The person of discernment realizes this and listens carefully for the background noise.
