Brutally honest

“The real things haven’t changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder

Why would anyone be brutal even in being honest?

I am hard pressed to think of anytime that brutality is a virtue.

Whether you are preparing a meal, preparing a resume, or crying for justice…presentation matters. And brutality has no place in that presentation.

The truth is, you cannot be brutal without it being brutalizing, both to you and to the person on the receiving end.

The ONE THING for today: The truth is meant to set people free, not bludgeon them to death. So, if you are not ready to articulate the truth kindly and in love, you are not yet ready to speak. Best to hold that thought until you’ve baptized it in kindness.
