It is one thing for your children to respect you because you are their father or mother and they are commanded to do so. But it an entirely different thing for your children to respect you.
It is one thing for people to respect you because you currently hold an office of influence in their lives, it is another thing for people to respect you.
It is one thing for people to respect the badge your wear, the uniform you wear, and the title you carry. But it is another thing for people to respect you.
The ONE THING for today: Respect received because it is required can be addictive, but it can make you lazy. One of the great goals of life is to so live your life that respect is earned.
Then after you’ve turned your office keys in, and put your uniforms, titles, and name plates away, nothing will change as to how people actually feel about you.
Then, after your children have long left from being under your domain and authority, nothing will have changed about how they actually feel about you.
Matter of fact, being loved, revered, and respected due to a life of integrity compounds even beyond the grave.
