Are you singing

My wife is always looking for an excuse to sing.

I haven’t hear it in a long time, but when I was a boy there was a saying that went like this: He’ll fight at the drop of a hat and he’ll drop the hat.

Well, my wife is like that when it comes to singing. She’ll sing at the drop of a hat and she’ll drop the hat (that is if hats come back in style).

Recently she came up with yet another reason to sing…see what you think.

Sonja recommends that we sing for joy.

This is different that singing with joy. Singing with joy implies you already have joy, as in Psalm 59:16, NLT — But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.

But Sonja say that if you lack joy, then the way to gain joy or regain your joy is to (she’s dropping the hat!) SING! As in… Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise him. (Psalm 33:1, NLT)

41+ years of marriage to Sonja and listening to her sing through the good time and bad times–through tears and sorrows, and in celebrations and parties convinces me she may be on to something. Today is Sunday, why not give it a try? Sing FOR joy!

The ONE THING for today
