The unfairness of it all

If you are a minister or minister’s spouse you will always be called upon to bear a disproportionate share of the responsibility.

I know…it’s not fair, but it is what it is.

Whether the issue is giving, attending, volunteering, or a dozen other things, if it is to be it will be disproportionately up to you.

The sooner you accept that without complaint or criticism the sooner your few other heavy lifters will too.

Remember, there will always be only a few that do most of the heavy lifting.  That’s just how life is.  Inspire those few with your commitment and joyful sacrifice and you will inspire them in their commitment and joyful sacrifice.  And together, you few will get a lot of great things done.

And here’s a couple other things I have learned:

  1. Just when you think you can’t get it all done with the few heavy lifters you have, God will send you, often from the most unexpected source, another heavy lifter.
  2. And did I mention that there will also be a disproportionate reward someday?

The ONE THING for today: Being in the ministry often requires that you carry a disproportionate share of the responsibility, but don’t grow weary in well doing, for to His faithful servants and ministers, our Lord also guarantees a disproportionate part of the reward.
