Going for third place

Pastor, church, at best, will only be third place in your people’s lives.

Under God…

1. Home/family will (or should) be first in your people’s life.
2. Then comes work and school (It’s hard to compete with hunger!)
3. And after that…everything else.

And this is a good thing. Family and work were created long before the church.

Your goal is to find a way to make church the most viable third priority in their lives…do that and you will have a successful and fulfilling ministry.

The ONE THING for today: Don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself or your people by pretending that church ought to be the most important thing in your people’s lives. Instead, be that best third option by helping them with their first two priorities and spend more time focusing on your own top priority.
