- Genesis 18:1 (NKJV) Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day.
Maybe I’m making too much of this (I think not); but noticed when God appeared to Abraham.
In typical Middle Eastern fashion, Abraham is observing siesta time during the middle of the day (why can’t our culture embrace this time-honored habit! 😦 \\ oh well, a topic for another day). There he is—sitting and that is when God appeared to Him.
God seldom goes running after us; we must run after him. However, if we will have the discipline to stop what we’re doing and sit down for a few minutes, it is amazing how often God will stop by.
Call it a devotional time, meditation time, prayer time, or whatever, but the ONE THING for today is: In this busy season (seems ever season is busy now days), you must exert the discipline daily to stop what you’re doing and be available for God to minister to you.
Remember, you’re not God, you’re not that important, and the world can make it fine without you—but God loves you a lot; take time to be with someone who is God, is important, and who the world and you can’t make it without. You’re be far better for it.
Remember, when you sitting around waiting for God, you’re not wasting time, you’re invest time. The returns are out of this world.
