In a recent blog (to see the blog follow this link) I stressed to you the importance of staying focused on the truth. It is amazing what happens when we choose not to.
When our minds become un-tethered from the truth invariably our thoughts run wild.
In the case of Eve, her mind turned the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:17) into the best thing since sliced bread. She took God’s poison label off—“for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” and replaced it with combination of Good House Keeping’s Seal of Approval and one of Carnival Cruise line’s fantasy Caribbean vacation packages (Genesis 3:6).
Nothing could have been further from the truth. Just because Eve changed the label on the bottle; nothing had changed about the poison on the inside.
Our culture is very adept at rewriting the truth. They are constantly replacing God’s labels with “new and improved” labels.
But dear friend, do not buy in to the lies. Stay grounded in the truth. In the end, you will be ever so glad you did.
Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV) And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Genesis 3:6 (NKJV) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate.
What a difference!
