Living the Examined Life…

Reflection question:

What am I thankful for?

The other day I hit a brick wall!  Let me explain…

Have you ever had one of those days where you just felt “blah”?  A few mornings ago that described me; I was “blah.”  It is hard to describe what blah is but you know it when you’re having a “blah moment”.  You just feel bad and grumpy for no apparent reason.

How can a papa be "blah" with a granddaughter like Ella Grace!?

But thank God for my reflection questions.  There I was, sitting there feeling grumpy, blah, and in the dumps when I hit a wall…the wall of thanksgiving.  As I began to force myself to list the things I was thankful for the dark cloud lifted.  I began to remember the many good things that I had that I did not deserve but God in his mercy had blessed me.

I was reminded of my dear family and the many friends I have…you get the picture.

Being thankful was a shock to my system; like hitting a wall, thanksgiving stopped me in my tracks and got me started on a better path.

Needless to say, the rest of the day was far better than my morning and, and that is another reason that reflection questions are so important.

I hope you hit the wall of thanksgiving today!:)

Blessings with a huge dose of thanksgiving,

dlkemp
