“My present position is not indicative of my future potential in God.”
_Ishmael Charles, message preached at FMCOG in 2005
My dear Grands, I’ve been studying about Josiah in David Lee’s bible the last several days (2 Kings 23)
Turns out that Josiah was the greatest king Israel ever had.
Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.
2 Kings 23:25 (NKJV)
That’s a pretty astounding statement if you think about it. We know far more about kings Saul, David and Solomon than we know about Josiah. We even know more about the evil king from the northern tribes: King Ahab than we do King Josiah.
But name recognition is not the goal in life.
The goal is not to gain a following or be a social influencer.
Really, the goal is not even to be number one.
The goal is “to turn to the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.”
Do that and all the other things will fall into place as they should.
My dear grands, this is my heart’s desire for each you. I hope each of you achieve great things, but more than anything, it is my prayer that you will be known in the circles you run in as having no equal in being a passionate and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.
In the end, that will be all that really matters.
Love,
Papa
