These are the random ruminations of a man on the run. The goal is to run this race of life well, encouraging as many as I can along the way, and to eventually meet my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and thank Him for the trip. (I am also prone to shamelessly brag on my perfect grandchildren.)
“Every setback is a set-up for a comeback.” _Ishmael Charles, 2005 Fall Campmeeting at FMCOG

In this video I share how one of the toughest moments of our lives set Sonja and me up for probably the most significant opportunity of our ministry. It is a reminder that every setback is a set-up for a comeback!
These are the random musings of a man whose goal is to make Jesus the paramount pursuit of my life who, while in this effort, is writing down a few lessons I've learned along the way. You'll have to decide if they are worth heeding but at least you may learn a few things not to do.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us here in Illinois. I’m feeling like I know you, at least a bit.
For introduction, I am church clerk at Bloomington.
Have a mightily blessed day this day the Lord has made.
Thank you for your kind words Lucille! And thank you for your faithful service at Bloomington. I’ve often said that Church Treasurer/Clerk is one of the most important and unappreciated positions in the Church. God bless you for all you do!
Bishop Kemp: Really appreciate you for the way you are so open and share of yourself. I do remember Bro. Alford and the man he was also. I appreciated your remarks about pastors and their kids. I came from a ministers home and remember having some of those feelings of seeing your parents not treated too good at times. But God has been with me, stood by me and helped me over the years and I am still in the church today. Again, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Diane for your kind remarks. It means a lot to hear that my blogs bring encouragement. And also, being a preacher’s kid myself, I have a special place in my heart for preacher’s kids. Over the years I’ve had people warn me about preacher’s kids being tough members to pastor. I never found that the case. The preacher’s kids I was privileged to serve over my years of being a pastor were the most supportive and encouraging members I had. #GoPreacher’sKids!

Taking small steps in the family and in the church to guide children and youth toward adulthood with the goal of continuing strong relationships with God and their family.
