“There is an enormous theological and cultural importance to ‘the power of No,’ especially in a day when ‘Everything is permitted’ and ‘It is forbidden to forbid.’” _Os Guinness, Renaissance: The Power of the Gospel However Dark the Times

It is an irony that most people miss.
If you want to succeed then the answer will almost always be no to every option and opportunity that comes your way.
Yeses are few and far between and the “big Yes!” is even rarer. Frame it this way…
The big “Yes!” sets the direction for success, but the road to success is paved with a thousand “Noes”.
The big “Yes!” sets the direction for success, but the road to success is paved with a thousand “Noes”.
And to be clear, what I am talking about are your noes.
You must not get distracted with whether or not others should not be doing things. You must not waste time and energy on what society or this or that particular group or organization should or should not be doing.
Most of the time that is beyond your control.
But there is one way you can make a difference…focus on paving your own road to success with the required noes to get there. Not only will it increase the chances of your success, it will show the way for the sincere seeker to find their way to success as well.
Bottom line, there is far too much hand-wringing and shouting about what others should or should not do. Better to focus on paving your own road to success by practicing what you preach.
The ONE THING for today: Hang on with all you’ve got to the “Big Yes!” that directs and motivates you. But remember, the road to get there will be paved with a thousand noes.
