“It’s better to have a partial interest in the Hope diamond than to own all of a rhinestone.” _Warren Buffet
*****
Buffet was speaking of owning stock in publicly traded companies when he spoke of partial interest in the Hope diamond, but it rings true in so many other ways.
For example, it’s better to be a small cog in something that is going somewhere that matters than the steering wheel of an old clunker that is barely wheezing down the highway.
It’s better to be a minor character in a best-seller than the major character of a book nobody has read.
Don’t settle for being the kingpin in a tiny kingdom that nobody wants to live in, a big fish in a little pond, a master of obsolescence and triviality, or a starter on a losing minor league team.
Be a part of something that’s big, something that matters, something that is making a positive difference in the world, even if it means you are only a small part.
Volunteer if they won’t pay you. Sweep floors and pick up trash if there’s no other jobs available. Do whatever you must, just don’t waste your life playing little games that nobody cares about.
The ONE THING for today:
Make the decision today that you will be a part of something that truly and eternally matters and start investing with what you’ve got where you are.
