Since it’s Sunday, let me recommend a good devotional book I recently finish. It’s called The Furious Love of God, by Brennan Manning
I have an axion I try to live by: If I am to err, I try to err on the side of grace. And, believe me, I have.
Manning’s axion would probably go like this: If I am going to err I will err on over-emphasizing the love of God. And he probably has.
On a visit over Christmas, my mother in law thought she had made us a cream cheese pound cake. She erred. What she actually made, by mistake, was a sour cream pound cake! Well what’d you know, we all agreed, it was the best pound cake she’d ever made.
The ONE THING for today: Whether its concerning grace, pound cake or the furious love of God, sometimes a good error is the best thing that can happen to you.
By the way, we ate the pound cake (sorry about that), but if you need grace from me you got it, and if you need to be reminded of the fierce and undying love of God…for you, I recommend The Furious Longing of God.
