One of the worse things you can do is to be obsessed with the bottom line today.

Whether you are a corporate leader trying to hit your numbers or a pastor trying to grow your worship attendance or a dieter trying to lose five pounds, or a dozen other situations…hitting your number today is great but it is not necessary.
It’s like raising your child; you most certainly want him/her to grow, but to sit your child down and command them to grow an inch today or this week or this quarter is unrealistic.
What you do to ensure your child will grow is to provide a healthy environment so that sustained and healthy growth can occur.
In the same way, if you hope to make your number, focus on creating the environment where healthy growth can occur.
This will require wisdom, diligence, and hard work, but it is doable.
The ONE THING for today: We’ve all seen corrupt and caustic organizations reach their numbers—for a while, but eventually, the numbers go south because the environment sustaining the numbers just doesn’t add up. Of course you want your organization to grow, but don’t make today the day it must happen, make today the day you must do something to keep your organization healthy and whole…the numbers have a way of taking care of themselves.
