When Paul declared, “for me to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21) he was not expressing a death wish. He was not throwing in the towel and praying for God to hit him in the head with a hammer.
There’s another part of the “for me to die is gain” formula and it is: “For me to live is Christ.”
Surrendering your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ is not a call to recklessly throw your life away; rather, it is a call to fearlessly do something with your life that truly matters–live or die.
Live or die, it is making choices and taking action that has the glory and honor and purpose and person of Jesus Christ at it’s center.
It means to do something that adds value and will still have value an eternity from now.
I call it: “Running to Win.”
The ONE THING for today: If I’ve weighed the odds out correctly today, you’ve got a fifty-fifty chance of either living or dying. Whichever it is—win at it.
