Pastor, there’s probably two dozen ways to preach. I will not quibble with you over style. But I do want to remind you what matters about your sermon.
Preaching is really about one thing—changing lives, nothing more/nothing less.
This Sunday, be entertaining enough to keep your listener’s attention, give them enough information that they can understand what you’re trying to communicate, but, like a heat sensitive missile, let nothing distract you from your mission of changing lives.
Two good questions to answer in your sermon are:
- What will happen if you do what I say.
- What will happen if you do not do what I say.
If the answers to those two questions don’t interest your listeners and make them want to change their lives, then your sermon is not worth preaching. Better go back to the drawing board and find something that’s worth your listeners making meaningful changes for.
