John 11:45-46 (NKJV) 45Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.
What would it take for you to believe that Jesus Christ was divine?
John the Apostle reports in his gospel that raising someone from the dead who had been dead four days was not enough.
Some believed, but others didn’t.
What would it have taken for everyone to believe back when Jesus walked the face of the earth? Apparently, walking on water, turning water into wine, stretching one lunch to feed thousands, affecting the weather, healing blind people, deaf people, lame people and even dead people wasn’t enough.
Turns out, we really do have a choice.
This is both exciting and sobering.
We don’t have to have the facts to believe something. Walking risen-from-the-dead evidence, right in front of us, does not necessarily mean we are going to believe something.
I’ve got to believe that this is true about more than whether or not Jesus Christ is who He said was; I guessing it can be about much more mundane things.
- The ONE THING for today: Just because you’re convinced doesn’t mean you’re right. Beware! Humility is required.
Luke 16:30-31 (NKJV)
30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’
31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”
