Before you draw that line…

Be careful when you “draw the line”. The difference between a work of art and scribbling is that with a work of art the lines are part of the bigger picture.

draw-the-lineThe same is true for “drawing the line” with rules and regulations; policies and procedures.

When you start making rules and regulations to make life better for you or because of some pet peeve or problem person, you are setting yourself up (and those under your care) for failure.

Rules and regulations, policies and procedures are necessary, but like drawing blood, must be implemented wisely and sparingly and because they assist in fulfilling your mission and vision.

  • The ONE THING for today: Think progress; not procedure, and draw your lines accordingly.
