Lessons at the Bush: Don’t get to close to God

burning-bush-framedExodus 3:5 (NKJV)

Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”

God is teaching us through Moses’ experience that you can get too close to God.  There is a “sweet spot” in which you are close enough to hear what God wants to tell you—that’s where you need to be.

Too often we are like Peter on Mt. Transfiguration; we are looking for a comfort zone where we can settle down instead of a sweet spot where we can get our marching orders.

  • The ONE THING for today: God doesn’t show up in your life to entertain you; he shows us to enlist you.
