The ONE THING for today

Top Ten Reasons Why I Stopped Bathing

  1. I was made to bathe as a child
  2. People who bathe are hypocrites – they think they’re cleaner than other people
  3. There are so many different kinds of soap, I could never decide which one was right
  4. I used to bathe, but it got boring, so I stopped
  5. I still bathe on special occasions, like Christmas and Easter
  6. None of my friends bath
  7. I’m still young. When I’m older and have got a bit dirtier, I might start bathing
  8. I really don’t have time
  9. The bathroom’s never warm enough or sometimes it’s too cold
  10. People who make soap are only after your money

The ONE THING for today: Quit your whining, get up, (bathe & dress), and go to church! 😉

Psalm 122:1 (NKJV)

The Joy of Going to the House of the Lord

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

  2. Well, we went to a memorial service recently, and an out-of-town “pastor” preached a repentless gospel. Nobody said a word. We stopped attending that church years ago when the leaderships’ daughters got pregnant out-of-wedlock, along with other young women who attended the church. If there isn’t a safe church in your area,(by safe I mean where the pastor preaches the truth from the Word of God, and not the teaching of man) maybe it’s better to stay home. May Christ keep us faithful. Amen!

    • Eliza, I truly appreciate what you are saying. Continuing with my “soap” example, I will agree that there are indeed “dirty” Christians/Churches out there. However, that should come as no surprise. All soaps are equal and all churches/pastors aren’t equal either.

The cleansing and redeeming process is often a long process and it is not uncommon to find Christians who are still a long way from being scrubbed “good and clean” (as my mother used to say).

Having said that, there are safe churches out there; there are pastors who have the heart of the Chief Shepherd. And like soap, just because you happened upon a type of “soap” that did not measure up to what it was create for, you don’t stop bathing you find a type of soap that does clean you well.

The same is true for church. God has a church family near you that is just what you are looking for. I encourage you to find that church and join with them in proclaiming the wonderful news of God’s redeeming and cleaning love.

      Bless you Eliza, dlk

      Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV)
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
      Says the LORD,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
      They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
      They shall be as wool.

      • Dear Pastor Kemp,
Thank you for your kind words and your encouragement, but no there isn’t one in our area, we have tried quite a few. Most can be eliminated by what they have on their websites, whom do they promote, what “ministries” do they link to? Others have to be visited where it becomes obvious after attending for a few times they are being influenced by Rick Warren’s style of “Christianity”. Others seem safe until the pastor preachers his own brand of heresy. This is what we have experienced, sad to say. But the truth is apostasy has gripped the visible church and many are being deceived by it. Praise God He opened my heart and mind to the truth by His Holy Spirit and His Holy Word, the Bible. Jesus is faithful to keep us from falling. Amen!

      • Eliza, I can only say–Don’t give up in your search. I am truly convinced that Jesus will keep his word (“I will build my church”) and thus He is at work in your area somewhere. It will not be a perfect church (that will only occur in Heaven) but it will be a church that is growing toward Christlikeness. Get in there with them and grow together. Bless you.
