John 1:4 (NKJV) In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
One of the most unappreciated truths that exist is the truth that without Jesus Christ people walk in abject darkness—dumb, doomed and damned for eternity.
“Success” defined in any other terms besides being a Christian is a mirage, a horrible scam that is going to rob them of all they truly desired and imprison them for eternity in darkness and ever-dyingness. It will be like a horrifying and sadistic version of the movie, “Groundhog Day” except there will be no happy ending.
There is a very real danger (for Christians and sinners) of overemphasizing the importance of what we do in this life.
Life on planet earth does matter like kindergarten matters. You want your children to attend kindergarten but you don’t want them to stay there forever. That is how this life is. Your present life is like attending kindergarten. God’s plan is that you spend a few days here on earth learning about the source of eternal life: Jesus Christ.
Not only that, but the goal is to actually meet Jesus, get to know him, and learn how to walk with him daily.
This is the only reason “kindergarten” (this life) matters.
You don’t go to kindergarten because it has a great playground, plush chairs and desks or fancy bathrooms. You don’t go to kindergarten because you like the snacks and love hanging around your friends. These would all be nice and congratulations if you attended a kindergarten like that; but the reason you go to kindergarten is to get prepared for life.
The same is true in “life-kindergarten”. Whatever you do, don’t get distracted with stuff that doesn’t matter.
Failing kindergarten would be embarrassing in most cases but not disastrous; the same can’t be said about “life-kindergarten”; that’s one class you can’t afford to fail.
- The ONE THING for today: Please, dear friend, passionately, fervently, and relentlessly make Jesus Christ the paramount priority and pursuit of your life here in kindergarten.
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
