2 Timothy 2:23 (NKJV) But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.
Don’t take the bait!
Hardly a day goes by without an opportunity for you to get involved in a heated discussion about something or other.
Why would you do this?
Only get involved in disputes in which you can reasonably control the outcome and in which the outcome really and truly matters (hint, hint: almost none of them matters).
Outside of voting, is there really anything you can do about what is going on in Washington?
Outside of doing your best and demonstrating a positive and cooperative attitude, is there really anything you can do about what upper management does? (Or the jerk that works in your department for that matter.)
Outside of praying and keeping your eyes on Jesus, is there really any reason to think that sinners saved by grace and still in process will not let you down from time to time? (I’m guessing you were also saved by grace and haven’t reach perfection either.) Then why would you add to the “noise” at your church? Remember, your church is a hospital not a hall of fame.
Remember, just because everyone else is quick to butt-in and give their opinion doesn’t mean you have too. Don’t take the bait!
Just because someone chooses to plaster obnoxious fifteen cent bumper stickers on their fifteen thousand dollar car doesn’t mean you have to respond (or even care).
The world has always had its full quota of obnoxious bigots, why would you think you wouldn’t get your fair share of them?
Be ducky about it; let it all run off your back and you stay focused on being with Jesus and being like Him.
- The ONE THING for today: Don’t take the bait…no matter how much you want to.
