Take a Stillcation

Ever come home from a vacation exhausted?

Why is it we feel the need to constantly be busy?

Why are we afraid of silence, being disconnected, unplugged, unproductive, alone, and still?

One of the ironies of life is that if we can make a choice to not want anything we often end up not wanting for anything.

Make time to quiet and still today.  Even if it is only a small window of time; carve out a few minutes where you choose to want nothing and do nothing.  Cool your jets, relax, surrender to the moment and rest in God.

  • The ONE THING for today: Take a “stillcation”.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

10 Be still, and know that I am God;

Matthew 6:25, 31-32 (NKJV)

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

  1. Amen Pastor. The Holy Spirit gave me a song about RESTING in The Lord, and a great teaching on rest as well. When I listen to Him, I do ok. Thanks for the reminder to rest in Him and enter into His calming presence. Our God is an awesome God!
