- Genesis 24:1-4 (NKJV) Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. 2 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh, 3 and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; 4 but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
The blessings of God are given to us to be passed on. We are a link in a long redemptive chain and if we forget this our family runs the risk of becoming disconnected from that redemptive plan.
Think of the many families across the world that are “dangling” out there somewhere with no knowledge or connection to the true and only God. Somewhere in their ancient history each one of those families had a family member in a position of authority that chose to turn away from God’s plan for them and their family–the link was broken.
The ONE THING for today: Be careful what you do with the blessings of God; pass them on and pass them on wisely.
Proverbs 5:16 (NKJV)
Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets?
