- Acts 5:3 (NKJV) But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
All things are not equal. You do not have the energy or the resources to be “all in” about everything.
However, there are some things that require your “all in” effort and attention.
“All in” effort may be required for only a few hours (like our daily jobs) or for a season (like school). There are also a few “all in” commitments that are for a lifetime (like marriage and parenting).
But whichever it is, beware of the sin of Ananias. You can read about him in Acts 5, but the gist of the matter is Ananias held back a part of the price and in the end it was fatal.
There are people every day that show up for work and only give a half-hearted effort. There are students that show up year after year and loaf through school. There are husbands and wives who go year after year giving their marriage only a mediocre effort.
All this is like cheating on your golf score—the person you’re really cheating is yourself.
We can’t be all in about everything—we get that, but the ONE THING for today is this: Be all in about something and whatever that “something” (or someone) is, be all in.
