The ONE THING for today

Avoiding with fury those things that kill you…

  • Proverbs 23:4 (NKJV) Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease!

Following is one of my personal affirmations:

  • I WILL LIVE THIS DAY AS IF IT IS MY LAST BY: Not wasting the precious moments of today worrying about the potential issues of tomorrow and avoiding with fury the killers of time for this day.

Note especially the “avoiding with fury the killers of time for this day” part of this affirmation.

Remember, there is a tipping point when any activity becomes a “killer of time for this day.”

Whether it is work, leisure, or sleep—there comes a time when the benefits of an activity do not compensate you for the losses you’re taking.

Take work, for example.  Know when to quit. Don’t spend your life working for those you love and fail to actually love them. Remember, love is spelled T-I-M-E and that doesn’t mean time at work!

Then there’s all the options to relax.  Leisure is necessary; it is like small “Sabbath-breaks” that allow your mind, spirit and body to relax and recharge. But there comes a tipping point in which your leisurely activities start killing the chances for you to be a part of something that really matters.

The same is true for sleep. There is only a few minutes difference between getting a “good night’s rest”  and being a “sluggard.”

Life is a balancing act. Too much of anything will kill you; not enough and the results are the same.images

Use wisdom dear friend—don’t blow this day—it may be your last on earth.
