The ONE THING for today

Love at first sight

  •  Genesis 29:10 (NKJV) And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel… (Proverbs 5:1-5 // 2 Corinthians 5:7)

One look set the course for the entire history of the Jewish race.

One look can change the course of your life and family as well.  Sight is a powerful thing.

Merchants know this and focus prodigious amounts of time, energy, and money on “catching our eye” for they know if they can catch our eye they have a good chance of capturing our dollars.

We live in a “see it and grab it” society. But I want to remind you that Jacob’s “love at first sight” led to seven long years of labor and sacrifice before he and Rachel could finally become husband and wife. images

Vision is a powerful thing. Whether our vision is something we see out there or an inner vision that motivates and inspires us, I urge caution. A vision that is connected to God’s plan for our lives is also connected to a process. Great visions take time, don’t hurry the process.

  • The ONE THING for today: Think before you take what you see take time for the process.  As beautiful as it is, it may be forbidden fruit and taking a bite out of some forbidden fruit is what got us in this mess in the first place.

The Power Prayer: To a child, something that is loathsome and noxious could appear beautiful and appealing. When they saw it they would gladly extend their hand to take it up—they don’t know any better. In your prayer time today as God to help you see life around you the way He sees it.

The Power of Caring: You know someone that sees themselves so wrongly. Their wrong view of themselves hinders them and holds them back. Today, use God-ordained words of blessing and hope to bless them (shape them). Remind them of how God sees them. (It is OK to start this by looking in the mirror.)
