Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The numbers matter whether it is your company’s bottom line or the speed limit.
Numbers even matter in church. Jesus made the point several times that He keeps up with the number of his sheep. He also gave a strong warning to us about making sure we give him a return on the resources he puts in our hands.
The way to tell if the man who says numbers don’t matter really means it is to watch him open his pay check. If he looks to see how much it is then you know that no matter what he says, numbers do matter to him.
However, you are not a number nor must you allow your standing or success in life to be reduced to a number.
Today’s Bible verse teaches you to not allow the world to press you into its mold or mode of thinking. Numbers matter but life is about so much more.
At the end of the day, you are what God says you are; if He is pleased with you and your performance then be at peace. And if God is not at peace with you then no amount of effort or money or “stuff” can buy you back into God’s favor. However, you can immediately be brought back into his favor and fellowship through the immeasurably precious blood of Jesus Christ who put up the necessary numbers to purchase your continuing salvation.
The ONE THING: Work hard to put up good numbers but do not be defined solely by those numbers. You are more than a number, you are God’s child through faith in Jesus Christ.
