- 1 Timothy 3:3 (NKJV) …not given to wine…
The Philippian jailer is a good example (Acts 16:30)—he asked the right question. He asked, “What must I do to be saved?” Not, “What am I free to do?”
He was free to reject Christ. He was free to take his life in order to escape the shame of failing at his job. Matter of fact, taking his life would have been applauded in his culture; through of small consolation to his family who would have lost their provider and protector. But, praise God, the jailer asked the correct question and ending up saving his soul and the souls of his entire family.
Bottom line, the ONE THING for today is to remember: A life focused on freedom and privilege will eventually become a lonely, self-centered life. A life focused on service and responsibilities will turn into a life full of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.
Prayer: Oh God, please help me to yoke up with my Lord Jesus and live a life of surrender and service—not my will but yours be done. I choose to live up to my responsibilities and put others first—starting with YOU; for I know my decision brings with it the lightest burden and the fellowship cannot be beaten.
