This week I continued my study of the book of Daniel which included the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (see Daniel 3). The chapter opens with Nebuchadnezzar assembling all the leaders of Babylon together to worship his golden statue. This idolatry was mandated with a penalty of death for those who refused.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, like Daniel, came from Judah and worshipped the one true God. Because of their faith these three men refused to compromise. Nebuchadnezzar challenged them and commanded them to bow (or else). Scripture records their moving response:
