- Joshua 24:15 (NKJV) But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Let’s discuss this issue of making decisions one more day…
Two days ago I challenged to simply make one – determine something. Then yesterday I encouraged you to not be held hostage to other people’s opinion. In other words, don’t allow them to make your decisions for you. Now today, I want to remind you that there are decisions that you do indeed need to make for others.
Joshua said, “As for me and my house…”
In other words, he made a decision for himself, but also for his family.
I attended a men’s breakfast this past weekend and heard a wonderful testimony of a man who had recently committed his life to Jesus Christ. One of the things he said was, “My parents ‘drugged’ me as a kid…they drug me to church every week.” 🙂
My point is this, the speaker’s decision to commit his life to Jesus Christ was not made in a vacuum; he had been introduced to Jesus and Christianity many years ago by a decision his parents had made for him.
In the same way, there are people in your life that you will need to make a decision for. You must use this options wisely; if you make other people’s decisions for them too often you make them weak, if you don’t make them often enough you set them up for destruction; so wisdom and prayer is certainly required.
But nevertheless there are times that you must step up and be a leader and make a decision – not only for yourself – but also for others.
Is it time for you to step up for someone?
