- 2 Samuel 18:19-20 (MSG) Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, said, “Let me run to the king and bring him the good news that God has delivered him from his enemies.” But Joab said, “You’re not the one to deliver the good news today; some other day, maybe, but it’s not ‘good news’ today.” (This was because king’s was dead.)
Do not confuse enthusiasm with priority.
For example, every time I see the “Hot Now” light on at Krispy Kreme I am enthused about it; but unfortunately there may never be a good time to stop at Krispy Kreme – if eating healthy is a priority.
The temptation is to confuse enthusiasm with goodness. But remember, just because you’re excited about something doesn’t mean it should be a priority.
Pace yourself when you find yourself enthused about something; sleep on it. If it is right today in most cases it will be right tomorrow. This habit may cause you to miss the rare opportunity of a life time, but over a life time it will save you a whole lot of trouble and heartbreak.
Thank you Pastor! I needed this today! Great stuff!
