- 1 Corinthians 1:8 (HCSB) He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is ironic that I am writing this on the last evening of a vacation. Do you know what the highlight of our vacation was? Sonja and I were blessed to enjoy a lot of different events and places, but the thing I enjoyed the most was just being with my wife of 34 years.
Sonja and I both are blessed to live very meaningful lives, but they are complicated lives. It takes getting away for a few days to realize just how busy, complex and, yes, tiring our lives are.
Already this evening I feel the weight of tomorrow…the clock is ticking…in a few hours it will be time get up (I haven’t even gone to bed yet!) and get back in the race.
I bet you know what I’m talking about yourself. 21st century living is pretty much complicated and complex for everyone.
That is why today’s promise hit a chord with me: He will strengthen you to the end.
Somehow, there will be a way to get it all done. Somehow, there will be strength to face what we’ve got to face tomorrow. Somehow, we will finish, the job will get done, the finish line will be crossed and we will end the race blameless thanks be to God.
That brings me comfort this evening and I pray that it does the same for you wherever you are in life and whatever you are facing.
I love the Old Testament version of this promise:
As your days, so shall your strength be…The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:25,27)
Thank you! I so needed that!
