Today’s ONE THING: A Quick Follow-up from yesterday’s Day of Prayer

Those of you that were in attendance at the FMCOG yesterday will be able to relate to what I am writing.  Yesterday I devoted most of our two AM worship services to prayer.  Hundreds of people filed through our “prayer lines” and were prayed for; many I personally prayed with.  You can’t do that without it deeply touching you and thus I feel more than usual the weight of the burdens and cares of the dear FMCOG family that I am privileged to serve as pastor.

One of the most frequent request in my prayer time with people was for their family members, in particular children.  I thought about that this morning when I was praying for my own family.  There is a verse out of Isaiah that Sonja and I have prayed daily over our family for many years now.  It means a lot to us and brings us great comfort for we have seen the faithfulness of God in fulfilling in our family.  As our family continues to grow this verse continues to gain significance for us.

I mention this today because perhaps you have family that you pray for.  I suggest that you claim the following promise for you and your family.  I truly believe that families have destinies and claiming God’s destiny over your family is the best way to go.  So anyway, here’s the verse, I suggest making it your own and speaking it daily over you and your family.

  • Isaiah 59:21 “As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from this time and forevermore.”
