The Guy People Hate to See Coming

“All the brothers of the poor hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him.”

― Proverbs 19:7

My dear virtually perfect grands,

You know how I stay on you about being a wise steward of money.

The proverb above gives a good example of why.

It shows that talk is cheap if there is nothing to back it up.

Just as money becomes worthless if there is nothing backing it up (inflation), words that do not have the backing of some currency – moral currency, positional currency, and especially financially currency people simply will not listen to you or take you seriously.

Think of all the babbling multi millionaires and billionaires who are suddenly experts on almost everything.  Why?  Because they have money.

Nobody has time for the poor fellow who may actually know a thing or two.

Bottom line, if you have any hope of having any influence in this world you have to have a proven track record of success and the most common way of measuring success is with money. (Not a bunch of the stuff that money can buy!)

The ONE THING for today: You know the drill, minimally live by the 10-10-80 rule.

Pay God the first 10%, invest the next 10%, and live joyfully with the rest–doing as much good as you can.

Of course bumping that formula up over the years is even better.

11-11-78 rule

12-12-76 rule

Etc.

Praying God’s abundant blessing upon your lives and the wisdom to manage it well,

As always,

Your doting Papa
