Those Jabbering Parrots

And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, Philippians 1:25

“When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.” _Winston Churchill

Your faith must grow!

What seems so obvious now, trust me, will be tested.  The answers that work now will one day seem silly and inadequate.  You will be tempted to doubt — to doubt God’s goodness and dependability.  Chances are, you may even doubt that there’s a God at all.

Call it progress.

When those dark seasons of challenge and doubt come accept the challenge.  Dig deeper.  Press forward.  Learn.  Progress.  Worship God with your mind.  You are sharp.  You will figure it out.  You will discover that God does exist and is forever dependable and able to guide you and help you.

And that is when the joy comes.

Even when despair is present and happiness is absent, there will be a deep settled peace and assurance that in the end, things will work out and you will be okay.

Winston Churchill, the great WWII British Prime Minister once said, “When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.”  And I have witnessed that truth many times.

There will always be people around you – intelligent sounding people who seem so smart – that are parroting the shallow clichés and slogans of the doubters and cynics.  Ignore them.  You’re an eagle, fly higher.  Turn your face towards God, you will find Him.

And oh the joy!

  1. Amen brother. It has truly been a desert season, hot and dry spiritually and financially for the last 24 months. 73 and living on social security, my side gig is not doing very well so no extra income there, and well, my speaking engagements have dried up as well. Only two speaking engagements in the last 12 months, both of those were for Full Gospel Business Men’s meetings, in surrounding towns, but my opportunities with local churches and the associated men’s groups with these churches have dried up as well. And yes despite the shortage of finances, we have continued to tithe, and even offerings, as well as helping our neighbors who are more elderly than we are. Yet it seems the heavens have turned to brass and my Heavenly Father has grown hard of hearing. But I know both to be untrue. I know He is loving and faithful. Yet lately, every time we write out a tithe check or make an offering, the dryer quits drying, another tree or limb goes through the roof, the AC blows up the compressor, etc. etc. etc. But we refuse to buy into the lie of the enemy. God is still on the throne. Even if we lose it all, it was God’s anyway, His provision provided it. Take care and keep the good words coming our way. The encouragement is welcomed. Sometimes our path is hot dry and dusty, but those roads lead to green pastures if we stay on them and trust the Lord.

    1. preacher721, I’ve been thinking a lot about you lately. I pray that things are getting better but I honor you for your courage…courage to keep believing and doing what is right because it is right, not simply because it “works”.

For sure, living the Christian life is not for the fainthearted!

Here’s believing with you for better days ahead.

      1. Thank you so very much, our journey is not always smooth and peaceful, because if it were we would soon forget our need to rely on our Lord and Savior. That said as rough as the last several years have been, we must be getting close to the top of the mountain. The climb has been tougher the landscape more barren, so we must have passed the “tree line”, and are close to the precipice. But the truth is I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds my hand. Your prayers are graciously received and much appreciated. Take care and keep up the great work you are doing for the Kingdom.
