8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name…
_Paul the Apostle (Philippians 2:8-9)
I remember hearing about a lady who put a beautiful potted plant on her desk.
Throughout the day different co-workers would stop by and comment on how they loved her potted plant. It came to a screeching halt when one of them bent down to smell the flowers on the plant and discovered that it was an artificial plant. After that the complements stopped.
The lady who owned the plant commented, “Apparently something has to be able to die to be worth loving.”
I think she’s on to something.
I know it sure gets to the point concerning the significance of Jesus, Calvary, and Good Friday.
The ONE THING for today: The fact that Jesus died (for you and me, no less!) is an indicator that He is worthy of our love and worship.
Great illustration!
I recently received a lovely flower arrangement just before going out of town. The friend I was going with reminded me to bring the flowers as they would die before I returned. I told her not to worry, they were silk. She was amazed. They looked so real.
In the same way, how many people are wowed by and believe in things that are fake? These ideas and teachings may look like the real thing and be very attractive. But upon closer examination, we find that they are dead, and will lead to spiritual death as well.
They are definitely not worth loving!

Wow, that’s good! Just goes to show…between the two of us we can somehow manage a homerun or two.
