“Quoting yourself” is just another way of saying you’re repeating youself.

But sometimes repeating yourself is a good thing and today’s personal axiom — “You are just one idea or one relationship away from the next level” — is one I have “quoted” many times.

I truly believe it. No matter how restrained, restricted, and under resourced you are…all it takes is one idea to change everything. In the same way, one person can walk into your life and your life will forever be changed.

But there’s a catch…

Something else I’ve learned is that all the great ideas in the world avail nothing if you’re not willing to make the tough decisions required to implement them.

The most amazing, talented, and innovative people in the world being willing to align themselves with you and your mission will not move the needle a bit unless you’re willing to make the tough choices required for them come on board.

For that new idea to be implemented it will probably mean letting go of cherished and comfortable former great ideas that are no longer working…that’s where the tough decisions come in.

Embracing a new and better relationship is the easy part, ending an old relationship that is holding you back is the tough part.

Over the years I’ve learned that it is not the lack of new ideas or relationships that is usually the problem. The problem is the lack of courage to make the tough decisions that will allow the new to thrive.

What tough decisions do you need to make to go to the new level? Every day you rationalize and postpone is a wasted day. Eventually it will be too late and then what will you do? Better to make the tough decisions now than carry the weight of regret and lost opportunity later.
