Miracles and Mashed Potatoes

“Difficulty is the very atmosphere of miracle, it is a miracle in its first stage.  If it’s to be a great miracle, the condition is not difficulty, but impossibility.” _Lettie B. Cowman, Streams in the Desert

Miracles are wonderful things.

Of course Mrs. Cowman is correct, they seldom occur unless you’re going through a very difficult and even impossible situation.

Matter of fact, they seldom occur at all! (That’s why they’re called miracle.)

Because miracles are so rare and so unpredictable and are mostly about God’s agenda (not ours), it’s probably best to never include “a miracle” as a part of your success formula.

Your plan for getting through your difficult and impossible situations should be like making mashed-potatoes.  Make them so good that they’re good without the gravy.  And if God decides to work a miracle on your behalf, well…that’s gravy.

The ONE THING for today: It has been estimated that the odds of your particular DNA coming together from your parents — in other words you being born — is 1 in 400 trillion. So there’s your miracle. Now, take what you’ve got and do something with it. If God gives you another miracle…well, that’s gravy.
