If You Ask Me

If you ask me…

The truth is, no one is asking me.

Washington hasn’t asked me.

My governor hasn’t asked me.

My mayor hasn’t asked me.

The Kremlin hasn’t called.

Beijin hasn’t checked in.

And neither has the dog catcher, the trashman, my neighbor, or the cat that lives down the street.

For that matter, you haven’t asked either.

So why would I want to add to the noise and confusion, and overload of information by expressing my opinion?

And why would you?

And why would you allow others to interrupt your life and your sleep and your peace of mind and your day to pull you away from the things that you are doing that could actually make a positive contribution?

The wise old king got it right in Proverbs 10:19…

“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”

The ONE THING for today: No matter how convinced you are that you are right, remember, an opinion unasked for is an opinion not wanted. You can at least make the world a quieter and more peaceful place by keeping your opinion to yourself. Why don’t we both try and let our good deeds do our talking for us?
