Rituals are markers that help us stay on track and not lose our way.
My morning rituals include a little litany that I say out loud every day. Part of it includes what I call my “T-H-I-N-K” affirmations. It goes like this…
I will think before I speak, by asking myself:
- T – Is it true?
- H – Is it helpful?
- I – Is it inspiring?
- N – Is it necessary?
- K – Is it kind?
If what I’m about to say doesn’t past that screening process, the game plan is to keep my mouth shut. (In the interest of full disclosure, unfortunately, I don’t always live up to my ideals! Pray for me.)
Recently, I’ve committed to making the world a better place. I amended my T-H-I-N-K litany and added an “S” – Is it short.”
Now I’m thingSing before I speak. I hope it catches on.
The ONE THING for today: You’re not ready to speak until you’re able to say it in as few words as possible.
