I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

(John 16:33, NLT)

If someone insisted that you describe the Christian faith in one simple sentence, I can think of few better ways than with Jesus’ three words: “But take heart…”

If you’ve lived as long as I have, you’ve experienced tough times of sadness, sickness and sorrow. Perhaps you are going through one of those seasons right now.

I have one thing to say: “But take heart…”

No matter what life brings your way, no matter how hopeless and despondent you may feel, there is always those three little words that Jesus spoke into our lives: “But take heart…”

Yes, Jesus was up front and honest. He did not hide the fact that “Here on earth we will have trials and sorrows.” However, He didn’t stop there. He added, “But take heart…”

That’s what you need to do today—take heart. No matter what you’re going through. No matter how you feel, take heart…you will get through this season. You will laugh again, have peace again, rejoice again, live again. Take heart my friend.

  • The ONE THING for today: Every day, in every situation, no matter what, you can take heart and know that somehow, someway, someday, God will resolve every trial and every sorrow in such a way that is for your good. And that is His 100% guarantee to all who put commit their lives into His care.

Colossians 1:19-20 (NIV)
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
