Expect an answer

John 16:23-24 (NLT) At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.
24 You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

Jesus is clear, if you ask you can expect to receive—there is a clear cause and effect.

Furthermore, the effect will be directly connected to the ask. In other words, you can have the assurance that if you ask for bread that Father God will not give you a stone.

And finally, how things work out when you ask is up to our sovereign and all-wise Father God who is love. Therefore, you can expect joy no matter how things turn out.

  • The ONE THING for today: Trust the love of  God enough to ask and trust the wisdom of God enough to joyfully accept the answer.
