The ONE THING for today

Don’t Tweet That!

The one thing that I would like to remind you of today is: “Think trajectory.”

What I mean by this is: Stay focused on the direction you’re are heading not the headlines.

Let me illustrate with two words: President Trump.

Bless his heart, (Being a southern boy, I can say anything I want to now!), being president of the United States of America has got to be the toughest job in world.  Everyday someone is mad at you and exercising their right as protected by the First Amendment to express in the strongest and most graphic terms their displeasure.

So what do you do if you’re the President?  Well, President Trump fights fire with fire—he fires off tweets all hours of the day responding to people’s criticism and offering some of his own.

I feel his pain, I’ve had my fair share of criticism too; and I bet you have also.  But firing back with your own caustic word-bomb is not going to make things better.  Oh I wish NoTweetingthere was a little angel that lived on President Trump’s shoulder who would keep whispering in his ear, “Don’t tweet that!!!”

There is no doubt that civility and good manners have fallen on hard times in our nation and I’m not sure how to bring them back into the good graces of the good people of the good ole US of A.  But one thing I do know, fighting fire with fire only makes the burn worse.

  • The ONE THING for today: Most criticism and insults don’t deserve to be dignified with even being acknowledged. Your best answer is to stay focused on where you’re headed with your life, not the headlines that are being shouted from the housetop at the moment.

Matthew 27:14 (NKJV)

14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
