What exactly is important now?

Yesterday I shared with you a principle for winning in life. To win in life run everything you do through this little template: What’s Important Now? (WIN)

But this begs the question: How do you know what is important now?

Over the next few days I’ll give you a few answers.

The first one is this: It’s important if it is important today but will not be important tomorrow.

The-One-Thing-200x300Remember, the opportunity of a lifetime seldom lasts a lifetime. Sometimes the opportunity only comes on one day and to miss it will be to forfeit an opportunity that will never come around again.

I’ll never forget a seminar I once attended on helping people cope with the pain and trauma of divorce. The lady teaching the seminar made this profound statement: “Contrary to what you may have heard; there does indeed ome a time when it is too late to have a happy childhood.”

There will most certainly come a day when you will no longer be able hold that dear one you love and tell them you love them and care for them.  There will come a time when you child will be too big to hold in your arms.  There may come a time when a cherished one lives beyond memory and no longer recognizes you when walk in the room.

Bottom line, there are two times in any event—the time of the event and the event of the time. To miss the latter is to miss an opportunity that will never come again.  Oh you may get together again but it will never be like it is today.  Drink deeply of what is important today — do it now!  Regret is a bitter beverage.

  • The ONE THING for today: If it matters today but not tomorrow—for heaven’s sake, do it now.

Genesis 6:3 (NASB)  Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever…”
