There can never be any question of whether or not Christians ought to withdraw from the world. Here, in praying, ‘Your will be done on earth…’ we are being thrust into the world, for there is nowhere else that we will be able to see God’s will appearing other than in the world.” _William H. Willimon, Lord, Teach Us: The Lord’s Prayer Y the Christian Life, page 68
You see to it that God’s will is done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Every time you are obedient to God his will, like salt sprinkled on a bland dish, you are seasoning this world with the Kingdom of God. As long as you are doing his will–Heaven is near and people have hope and even the worse around you have a chance to be redeemed.
Bottom line, praying the Lord’s prayer and then passively waiting for God to do something is not acceptable. You be an answer to your prayer.
- The ONE THING for today: Pray, “Thy Kingdom come and Thy will be done on earth” and then go act accordingly.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (NLT)
11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.
12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him.
