“If you go looking for ‘offenses,’ there will be no end of them. Some people think I’m hard of hearing. My hearing is fine. I’m just hard of taking offense. I don’t have to scold every inanity, confront every insanity, or rebuke every obscenity.” _Leonard Sweet, Soul Salsa, page 110
- The ONE THING for today: Choose to be hard of hearing. Don’t take the bait; don’t go there; be “ducky” – let it roll off your back; practice “FIDO” – forget it and drive on.
You get the picture.
Why complicate your life by worrying obsessively over that other people think of you? Focus on what you think of you, and more importantly, what God things of you.
Get that right and you will survive the opinion polls – they change almost every day but God’s love for you never fails and his plans for you will come to pass.
1 Corinthians 4:3-5 (NLT)
3 As for me, it matters very little how I might be evaluated by you or by any human authority. I don’t even trust my own judgment on this point.
4 My conscience is clear, but that doesn’t prove I’m right. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide.
