Our threatening God

“Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done.” (Matthew 6:10)

Don’t ever suppose that God is tame and safe or docile and compromising.

You are setting yourself up for a lot of consternation and disillusion if you fail to understand what it means when the Bible teaches that God wants to help you.

Sure, God wants to help you, but what he wants to help you with is becoming righteous and holy.

His kingdom is always threatening to take over. He’s not interested in building your kingdom; he’s not interested in preserving your rights and privileges. He’s interesting in you becoming a part of his kingdom.

Remembers, kings rule.  They do not have fellow citizens; they have subjects.

Be aware, God is a king and his kingdom is coming. He is determined for his will to be done.  His “blessings” come in the oddest packages and his will being done will mess up so many of your plans.

But here’s the good news, you will never be more blessed, free, and full of joy than when you finally surrender to God’s pottery wheel and say, “Not my will but thine be done.”

  • The ONE THING for today: If you ever hear God say, “Have it your way” you’re toast.

Psalm 81:11-13 (NKJV)

11 “But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. 12 So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels.

13 “Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!
