Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, 2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne. (Hebrews 12:1-2, HCSB)
If you have been tracking with me on this year’s 40-day fast, then you and I have reached the midway mark.
However, whether you’ve been tracking with me or you’re on a different schedule, let’s use this day to make any mid-course adjustments the Holy Spirit may want us to make.
A good diagnostic question to help you is this: At this particular time in my life, what obvious sin(s) or “weights” (see verse above) are there in my life that are hindering me from making Jesus desirable to the lost?” (Hindering my witness, both in word and deed.)
Start with that question and make adjustments accordingly.
- Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to see myself as you do. Please give me wisdom and insight as to how I can be more effective as a Christian witness that Jesus may be more glorified in my life.
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.
1 Corinthians 10:23-24 (NKJV)
